The Brave Firewall + VPN, initially designed to provide mobile users with better online anonymity, is now stronger than ever. After launching on desktop devices last year, Brave has announced significant upgrades to its VPN service, improving both transparency and user experience.
Known primarily as a privacy-focused web browser, Brave has been steadily expanding its security tools since introducing a built-in VPN in 2020. The latest updates reinforce Brave’s commitment to online privacy while enhancing functionality.
A key highlight is Brave’s first independent security audit this year. Experts from Assured, a security consulting firm, reviewed the VPN infrastructure for the second time over the summer. They identified only minor and medium-level risks, which the VPN’s provider, Guardian, largely addressed. This third-party audit confirmed Brave VPN as a reliable no-log service, meaning it does not store user data. This ensures that if hackers or governments try to access user information, there will be no sensitive data to find.
Brave’s browser already protects users by blocking trackers, fingerprinting attempts, third-party cookies, and ads. The VPN adds an extra layer of privacy by encrypting internet connections and hiding users’ real IP addresses, even when the browser is not in use.
The IP masking feature also helps users bypass censorship and geo-restrictions. The provider has expanded its VPN server network to cover more than 40 countries and regions worldwide. Users can now easily switch between more server locations using a new, more intuitive interface.
Additionally, Brave has doubled the number of devices allowed to connect simultaneously on one subscription—from five to ten—across Android, iOS, and desktop platforms.
