Netgear has entered the business cybersecurity sector with its acquisition of Exium, a company known for its secure, cloud-based networking solutions.
This move is part of Netgear’s long-term strategy to offer small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) easy-to-use, high-performance connectivity solutions. By integrating Exium’s technology, Netgear plans to extend beyond traditional VPN offerings and introduce a modern Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) framework. This framework is designed to meet both networking and security needs.
Netgear’s goal is to simplify enterprise-grade security for small IT teams. The company aims to provide SMEs not only with a robust alternative to business VPNs but also with a comprehensive and user-friendly platform.
The integration of Exium’s platform will allow Netgear to create an all-in-one system that combines both wired and wireless networking with built-in security features.

The acquisition will also pave the way for improved hardware that comes with advanced security features right out of the box.
With a focus on becoming a leading provider of VPN routers for businesses, Netgear aims to deliver networking devices that are secure by design. By combining its wireless hardware expertise with Exium’s cybersecurity layer, Netgear plans to offer SMEs ready-to-use routers and switches that provide both performance and protection.
Exium’s platform is built on a zero-trust architecture, which complements Netgear’s plans to deliver a top-tier Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solution for its customers.
