On Wednesday, users in Pakistan were able to access social media platform X (formerly Twitter) without the need for Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). This marks a significant shift as X had been banned in the country for over a year.
Authorities blocked the platform on February 17, following widespread protests over allegations of vote rigging during a general election. Since then, citizens have relied on VPNs to access the service.
However, several users reported on Wednesday that they were able to access X directly without using a VPN, raising questions about whether the platform’s ban has been lifted or if access restrictions have been relaxed.
